What preventive
dental services do I need?
Preventive dental care includes services designed to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy. Most patients benefit from routine exams, cleanings, digital X-rays, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants. Depending on your individual needs, we may also recommend custom oral appliances or more frequent visits. These services help prevent cavities, gum disease, and other issues before they require more complex treatment—saving you time, money, and discomfort down the road.

What is the difference between a routine cleaning and a deep cleaning?
A routine cleaning removes plaque and tartar from above the gumline and is recommended every six months for most patients. A deep cleaning, also known as scaling and root planing, is needed when there are signs of gum disease. These cleanings remove plaque and bacteria from below the gumline and smooth the roots of the teeth to help gums heal. Deep cleanings are more involved and are typically done in sections over one or more visits.

When are
fluoride treatments recommended?
Fluoride treatments are often recommended during regular dental checkups—especially for children, teens, and patients at higher risk of cavities. Fluoride helps strengthen enamel and makes it more resistant to decay. Adults with sensitive teeth, exposed roots, or a history of frequent cavities may also benefit from professional fluoride applications. The treatment is quick, painless, and provides extra protection between visits, supporting your long-term oral health.

Is preventive dental care expensive?
Preventive dental care is typically very affordable, especially compared to the cost of treating dental problems later. Most insurance plans cover exams, cleanings, X-rays, and fluoride treatments at little or no cost to the patient. We also offer an in-house membership plan that includes routine preventive treatments, and we encourage new patients to take advantage of our $79 first-visit offer as well. Should you have any additional financial questions or concerns for our team at any time, please let us know, and we’ll be glad to assist you!
